Set your template to "minima" and then you can dress it up with "blog clothes". Try clicking the little "Hot Diggedy-dog" banner in the corner of my blog and it will take you to free blog backgrounds and tell you how to use them. You are basically adding a new page element. Easy once you know what you are doing, but you might have to redo your side bar links and such.
Hey, that looks good! Now you just might want to change you "link and "visited link" colors so they are more visible. (They're in "font's and colors" on the layout menu.)
